I believe we are all unique individuals with widely differing backgrounds and experiences, but one thing that we have in common is that we all suffer. I have yet to encounter anyone who has not faced some challenge or disappointment in life. The lost relationship, disappointment at work and chronic self-doubt are some of the common forms. I have found that we can lessen our suffering with a little acceptance, self-compassion, mindfulness and the help and support of a therapist who seeks to understand your experience. If you are like most of us there is always room for growth. Let’s see if working together, you can experience less suffering and more fulfillment and joy.
In addition to private practice, I am a clinical supervisor in the UCSF Dept. of Psychiatry, Division of Substance Use and Addiction Medicine, where I supervise MFT and Social Work interns and facilitate individual and group sessions with clients suffering from severe substance use disorders. I bring over 30 years of professional experience helping people to make positive changes in their lives. I have certainly not lived a perfect life myself, for which I am ultimately grateful, as I believe that it is our struggles and challenges that lead to growth, strength and insight. And a good dose of humility. I am ready to help you help yourself.
